Divisions

Farm

The Farm Softball Division is comprised of 6, 7, and 8 year olds (as of January 1 of the “season” year).  The intent of the league is to introduce the basics and fundamentals of softball.  No score or standings are kept nor are playoffs held.  A continuous batting order is utilized so that everyone bats and fielders are rotated every inning with coaches on the field providing instruction and feedback.  Each coach pitches to their own batters and every effort is made to have the players put a batted ball into play.  Some of the goals to be accomplished are as follows:

  • Basic terminology (bases, batters box, positions…etc…)
  • Basic base running
  • Basic throwing mechanics
  • How to swing a bat properly and safely
  • Sportsmanship


Minors

The Minors Softball Division is comprised of 9 and 10 year olds (as of January 1 of the “season” year).  The intent of the league is to continue to add to the basics and fundamentals of softball in a competitive environment.  The game score and standings are kept and single elimination playoffs are held with every team making the playoffs.  A continuous batting order is utilized so that everyone bats and fielders are rotated every inning. Players start every inning pitching and are followed in relief by a coach if necessary after four walks to move play only (in that inning only).  A four run limit per inning is utilized with the exception of an unlimited last inning.  Coaches are not on the field of play otherwise.  Base stealing is limited in amount and circumstance.  Some of the goals to be accomplished are as follows:

  • Base running technique and introduction to stealing and sliding
  • More advanced throwing mechanics and techniques
  • Hitting a pitched ball from a player and a coach
  • Positional field play: covering bases, tag plays, force outs
  • Sportsmanship


Majors

The Majors Softball Division is comprised of 11 and 12 year olds (as of January 1 of the “season” year).  The intent of the league is to practice and begin to play advanced competitive softball.  The game score and standings are kept and double elimination playoffs are held with every team making the playoffs.  A continuous batting order is utilized so that everyone bats and fielders are rotated every inning. Players perform all of the pitching duties.  A five run limit per inning is utilized with the exception of an unlimited last inning.  Competitive softball rules are utilized with only minor exceptions.  Some of the goals to be accomplished are as follows:

  • Unlimited base stealing (including home)
  • Advanced player pitching (faster speed and more accurate)
  • Hitting for situations and power; including bunting
  • Positional field play: covering bases, tag plays, force outs, bunt fielding, throw-downs and passed balls
  • Sportsmanship


Juniors

The Juniors Softball Division is comprised of 13 to 18 year olds (as of January 1 of the “season” year).  The intent of the league is to practice and continue to play advanced high quality softball.  The game score is kept but no playoffs are held.  A continuous batting order is utilized so that everyone bats and fielders are rotated every inning. Players perform all of the pitching duties.  A five run limit per inning is utilized with the exception of an unlimited last inning.  Competitive softball rules are utilized with only minor exceptions.  Some of the goals to be accomplished are as follows:

  • Individual skill enhancement and advancement
  • Advanced player pitching (faster speed and more accurate)
  • Hitting for all situations
  • Having fun
  • Sportsmanship
